Get to Know Guy Christian

Guy Christian was born and raised in Fresno, California. At the age of 19, he joined the United States Navy and served in the Submarine Service until his honorable discharge in 1969. He married Patricia, his wife of 42 years, in 1966. They have 4 children and 12 grandchildren. Guy and Pat are raising 3 of their grandchildren due to the passing of their daughter Debbie in 2004. Two of their children, Tim and Tammy, reside in Visalia along with their families. Their youngest son Robby is in Rhode Island serving as a Hospital Corpsman in the United States Navy.

Guy has worked as a Fire Apparatus Engineer in Tulare and Fresno Counties; and as Fire Captain and Paramedic Captain in Orange County, for the State of California Department of Forestry. In 1978, Guy and his family relocated to Visalia to continue the work of his grandfather who had suffered a disabling illness. Together with his brother they were able to carry on the family citrus farming operation for the next 20 years.    

Guy began his employment with the Tulare County District Attorney’s Office in 1997 as a Welfare Fraud Investigator. One year later he was promoted to Supervising Welfare Fraud Investigator where he continues his career.

Guy has served in various aspects of his community including Assistant Scout Master and Varsity Scout Coach in the Boy Scouts of America. He has also been a Youth Advisor in his church. He currently serves on the Tulare County In-Home Supportive Services (IHSS) Committee where he has been Committee Chairman for the past 5 years. Guy is an associate member of the Tulare County Deputy Sheriffs Association (TCDSA) and a member of the California Welfare Fraud Investigators Association (TCWFIA). He is also a member of the Latino Peace Officers Association (LPOA).

In his spare time, Guy enjoys golfing, motorcycling, and loves tinkering with his Koi pond. He especially enjoys spending time with his family, whether it is at home or attending the various activities of his grandchildren.
