Issues
Guy believes the following are issues important, not only to Guy Christian, but to the community of Tulare County. Guy believes that the Board of Supervisors must play an active role in these areas in order to better server community to the best of its ability in the comming years.
Farming
Farming is the lifeblood of Tulare County and to many in our community it’s the only way of life. Tulare County commodities are shipped to virtually all points of the globe. Farmers have faced both the good and bad effects of “mother nature”, and on another front face the issues of water, air pollution and regulations often made with little or no knowledge of farming. Just as farming had developed and changed so must our methods of local government. We must become efficient in areas, which can keep this vital part of our way of life alive and well.
Business
Business is an ever-expanding part of our community. As new businesses locate in our communities they bring new neighbors, new friends, new revenue for local business and an increase in the need of public services. In order to attract new business we must have available in our community a work force that can meet the needs of today's business. The development of a four-year curriculum at College of the Sequoias will be an important step in meeting those needs.
Rocky Hill - Yokohl Valley
Tulare County has not informed the residence of Tulare of the culture, historical or archaeological resources within the Yokhol Valley and Rocky Hill area. Rocky Hill is the gateway into Yokohl Valley. Wuksachi and Wukchumni are the direct descendants of the ancient people of this area. Evidence from previous surveys include prehistoric sites, bedrock milling stations, petroglyphs, lithic flakes projectile, pictographs, rock shelters, ground stone implements, quarries, and rock formations.
Rocky Hill and Yokohl shall be protected by Tulare County Board of Supervisors to date.
Law Enforcement
In Tulare County Gang Violence is taking an intolerable toll on our community. Law Enforcement Agencies, City Government, community leaders and our District Attorney have joined together in an unprecedented effort to combat gangs and gang violence. In order to achieve success Law Enforcement must have the resources needed to get gang members off our streets. Our District Attorney must have the resources to prosecute and keep violent gang members off our streets. There must be a strong commitment from the Board, which supports these efforts.
Medical Community
Over the last five years Tulare County has grown at an unprecedented rate. While we have grown in population we have not kept pace with our need for Physicians, Nurses and facilities. The Tulare County Board of Supervisors needs to commit to working with the medical community to make Tulare County a positive environment for new physicians, nurses and medical services.
